How to disconnect the hard drive?

If your computer has more than one hard drive installedyou may need to disable one of them. How to disable the internal hard drive? You can do this in three ways: disable physically, in BIOS and programmatically in the operating system. You can also disconnect an external hard drive.

• How to disable the hard drive physically. To do this, open the side cover of the system module and, with the computer off, disconnect the power connector from the desired hard drive. This should be done very carefully, since the connectors are usually quite tight. Use this method can only be for a long shutdown, as the connectors can loosen up, which will cause problems with the hard drive.

• How to disconnect an external hard drive. If the computer is turned off, you can simply disconnect the device from the USB connector. If the computer is turned on, you must first turn it off programmatically. To do this, click on the tray icon in the tray and select "Safely remove the device." When the message "Equipment can be retrieved" appears, you can disconnect the connector.
