Meanwhile, herring salted or unsalted is usually cheaper than that to which a good ambassador has applied. It is quite appropriate to buy unsalted herring and salt to taste. Herring salting

To salt herring, it is better not to cut the fish, butto salt it all at once. And for salting you should choose a large herring. If you still want to separate the fish, then only the head, tail and entrails should be separated. It is best to pickle fish with marinade.

  1. To do this, take 600 milliliters of boiledwater, dissolve one tablespoon of salt and sugar. Add a little black pepper and a few leaves of a laurel. If desired, you can add basil, cloves and other greens.
  2. Water should be at room temperature.
  3. Note that the marinade should hide all the fish completely. If necessary, top up the water in the marinade. Also do not forget to add salt and sugar.
  4. Now you need to cover the marinade with a lid. Put the herring in the refrigerator for about 12 hours. So you get a weak salting herring. If you want the ambassador to be stronger, then it is recommended to leave the fish for a day.

Another, no less effective way of pickling herring is to fish salmon by hand.

  1. To do this, you must first wash it well andremove gills, then wipe with dry napkins. After this, you need to mix the salt with sugar and ground black pepper, then rub this mixture completely on the fish.
  2. Then wrap the fish in food film or parchment paper in 2-3 layers. After that, you need to put the fish in a bowl and put in the refrigerator for two days.

You can pickle herring for 7 days. And this will not damage the fish in any way, as before the salting was the main way of conservation.
