This disease is typical, in the first place, for the elderly, but it is often observed in young people. What are the causes of tremor? In this article we will tell you why the head is shaking.

The main types of tremor

Depending on the causes of the occurrence, there are three main types of tremor:

  • benign;
  • postural;
  • intentional.

The first type refers to the state when there is nothe apparent cause, on which the head is shaking. This is the most famous form in the list of motor disorders. It manifests itself usually in a transitional period and begins with one hand, and then goes over to the second. Then usually starts shaking the head. The phenomenon is enhanced by nervous excitation and the use of alcohol.

Postural tremor is most oftenconsequence of hereditary predisposition, hyperfunction of the thyroid gland and increased anxiety. It intensifies, as a rule, when a person tries to reduce trembling.

Intensive tremor occurs against the background of lesions of the cerebellum, which is responsible for the equilibrium of the person when walking.

Causes of tremor

The main reasons for which the head and hands are shaking are the following states:

  • stress conditions, including fears and emotional overstrain;
  • alcohol addiction;
  • drug addiction;
  • medications;
  • excessive exercise during exercise, etc .;
  • cerebellar disease;
  • heredity.

Separately it is necessary to note also illnesses, against which the tremor of a head and hands most often develops. Among them are the following diseases:

  • hyperthyroidism;
  • alcoholism;
  • Wilson-Konovalov's disease;
  • Parkinson's disease;
  • kidney failure;
  • liver failure;
  • respiratory insufficiency;
  • poisoning with salts of heavy metals;
  • lesions of the midbrain.
