Push-up involves, in general, the work of a multitude of muscles. So it can be said about using the muscles of the chest, triceps, forearm muscles in work; some load goes to the lower back muscles and the small muscles of the brushes, even the press is turned on during the push-up. Let's consider what muscles work at push-up the most intensively and on what intensity of their work depends.

Work of muscles at push-up

There are those most involved in the processmuscle pushups, this: a large pectoral muscle (or just the chest); triceps and anterior brachial deltas. At the same time, the breasts are involved most of all, the muscles work intensively in the process of flexing the arms when pushing. The triceps is included in the work when the arms are extended. The front part of the arm is an intermediate link, it is also included in the work during push-up.

What muscles work with push-up depends on the(as in pulling) of the variation of the exercise, but several. Different techniques, that is, the setting of hands, elbows, will determine the leading muscle.

Push-ups: pectoral muscles

  • The maximal use of the muscles of the breast isclassic version of push-ups. Hands are slightly wider than shoulders with palms on the floor, the body is straightened and fixed, legs are straight on toes. Elbows at push-up (chest to the floor) must be divorced in the sides! This is what ensures the work of the breast.
  • The variation of classical push-up is the use ofblocks (you can take books at home). The bottom line is that your hands are higher, and you could go lower. This allows you to stretch the chest, which means it's better to work it out.

Push-ups: triceps

We remember that the breast is always active during push-ups, but there are variants that heavily load the triceps.

  • To work the triceps, you only need to change the direction of the elbows: the average width of the arms, but the flexion is done with the building of the elbows back (and not in the sides).
  • Another option: a very narrow grip (hands together), elbows are also taken back. In addition to intensive work of the triceps, there is a tension in the middle of the chest.
