What do bricks make of?
Excellent technical characteristics of the brick, likesay historians, were known even before our era. This material was successfully used both for the construction of the ancient buildings of Rome, and for the construction of buildings in ancient Egypt. However, despite the rich history and wide popularity, not everyone knows from what it is made and how it happens.
What is made of silica brick
In the second half of the XX century, in addition to red,The most widely used in construction was brick silicate. Its peculiarity is not only in white color, but also in the ingredients used, the manufacturing method and the field of application.
The main components of the material are quartz sand and lime, which are taken in the ratio of 9 to 1, respectively.
The process of its manufacture is based oncalled autoclave synthesis, where, after dry pressing of the mixture to form the desired shape, the preform is exposed to water vapor at a pressure of 8 to 12 atmospheres and a temperature of 170-200 degrees. Adding a mixture of different pigment dyes and functional additives to the composition can change both the color of the product and its performance. But despite this, the index of strength and moisture resistance of white brick will still be lower than that of red. Therefore, this material is not used in those areas of construction, where increased strength is required.
What red brick is made of
Red, or as it is also called ceramicbrick, is made of clay, in which various additives for improving properties are mixed. The technology of its production consists in mixing clay, forming and pressing blanks with further roasting. Red brick happens:
- Facing;
- Hollow;
- Full body.
The latter species, being traditional, canused for the construction of stoves, foundations, load-bearing walls, multi-storey buildings, and for solving other tasks in the construction industry. Any construction of this material will be distinguished by its reliability and durability.
