"In particular" is allocated with commas, if used as an introductory word, indicates the additional information in the sentence, the connection of thoughts in it:

Our company is engaged in charity, in particular, it helps the orphanage.

If "in particular" is at the end or at the beginning of the connecting structure, then it does not separate from it:

  • She is interested in birds, in particular storks.

If "in particular" is used in the meaning "especially", "separately", then commas are not allocated. It is not allocated even then, if it is used with the words "in general", "in general":

  • They talked about food in general and about chicken broth in particular.
