What is text?
The word "text" is often used ineveryday speech. But are we thinking about its meaning? In the dictionaries you can find different definitions of the text. We can say that how many authors - so many opinions. Let's try to understand what text is, and how information should be presented to be called text.
The term itself is of Latin origin, inwhose meaning is quite multifaceted: "interweaving, cloth, combination." These definitions quite accurately indicate the main characteristics of the text. Indeed, the text can only be called a coherent, consistent presentation of thoughts.
The text should consist of sentences. However, a simple set of unrelated phrases can not be called text. Between sentences, unity - both semantic and grammatical - must be observed.
By what means is this connectivity achieved? It is necessary to observe both the order of words within the sentence, and the sequence of the phrases themselves, as well as their intonational unity.
An important characteristic of the text is the availability oftheme, the main idea, which is subject to the presentation of thought. There is such an expression "incoherent text". But from the above, can such a formulation be used at all? Apparently not, because incoherent presentation is no longer a text.
Therefore, try to express your thoughts coherently, remembering at the same time what a text is.
