What came first: a chicken or an egg?

The question is, what appeared before: chicken or egg, old as the world. Recently, this topic again became popular, as the publication came out that scientists and experts have finally resolved this issue. But the funny thing is that one group of scientists holds the opinion that the chicken appeared before the egg, and the other - that the egg was the first.
A point of view that states that the egg appearedbefore the hen, came to us from England (from Nottingham University), where an expert on evolutionary genetics named John Brookfield justified his position. The bird, now called a chicken, originated in the process of evolution from another species of birds. And the process of oviposition appeared much earlier than a chicken or a bird in general (as is supposed, say, in dinosaurs). Thus, the conclusion is drawn that the egg appeared earlier than the first chicken. Because the bird, which evolved into a chicken, first existed in the egg as an embryo. The invited experts also agreed with the opinion of the scientist.
The second opinion of British scientists from universitiesSheffield and Warwick are diametrically opposed to the first point of view. The scientific team declares that the solution of this complex issue is that the chicken appeared before the egg. And who to believe, you ask. Well, it is necessary to find out how these scientists explain their position ... They conducted a series of studies in which the process of the appearance of a chicken egg was simulated with the help of a computer. The work was carried out at the genetic level. The researchers found out what is the main thing in the formation of eggs - ovocladinin-17 or OC-17 protein. It is he who plays an important role in the creation of the egg shell and controls this process. A protein is only in the body of a hen, and it turns out that without a hen, the egg does not appear. It is quite clear that the next question arises: what about the egg of other birds? Scientists argue that other species also have a protein that is different from chicken, but also participates in the formation of eggshell eggs of their kind. Thus, the researchers prove that without the given egg protein the egg can not appear, and hence the chicken appeared before the egg.
Having read the first position, it is difficult to disagree. And then, after learning about the second position, which also seems right, you get completely confused. Thinking about it, you realize that the dilemma of what happened before: a chicken or an egg remains an open and confusing story.
