The question of how to store tires becomesespecially relevant twice a year - on the eve of winter and the arrival of spring. In order not to face an unpleasant surprise at the moment when it's time to "re-train" the car again, the replacement set of rubber needs to be provided with certain storage conditions during the seasonal downtime.

How to properly store tires: tips

Of course, store car wheels muchbetter and more convenient assembled, but, alas, not every Russian car enthusiast can afford to purchase a second set of quality wheel disks, that's why during the seasonal replacement of rubber, the rings are to be demolished and subsequently to store the tires separately.

How to store tires without disks

  • Car tires in any case can not be stored outdoors or under a canopy. With such improper storage, the rubber will quickly crack and lose its strength.
  • Store car tires should be in a room in which there are no sudden changes in temperature. This will avoid the formation of condensate on the tires, under the influence of which the rubber collapses.
  • The room intended for storage of tires must be clean, dark and dry, the temperature in it should not be above 25 * C.
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight during storage. Tires should also not be stored near heaters.

Proceeding from all of the above, the ideal place for storage of automobile tires will be a heated brick garage, a clean and dry cellar or a cellar or a household pantry in the house or apartment.

How to store tires with disks

  1. Before laying tires for long-term storage, they must be removed from the disks. You can do it yourself or in a tire repair shop. Before dismantling with colored nipple caps, mark each tire and write down which wheel and in what direction they were standing.
  2. After removing, wash the tires well. Under a stream of water with a large brush remove from them all the muddy dirt and small rubble, stuck in the grooves of the tread. Then dry the tires (not in the sun) and treat them with a special tool designed to preserve tires.
  3. Vertically in a row, leaning against one another,Install tires on a wide wooden rack or pallet raised above the floor. During storage every half-month, rotate all tires on an odd tenth of a turn so that they do not deform under their own weight and remain perfectly round. After turning, always check the installation of the tires - they should stand strictly vertically.
  4. If absolutely necessary, the tires can be stored in a suspended state, but this is highly undesirable, since the inner edge of the tire at the point of contact with the hook can be deformed.
