How to paint discs?
The car is an expensive pleasure. It requires not only monetary costs, but also the costs of your personal time and effort. At the diligent motorist the car always shines and looks, as the newcomer. To achieve this effect, you need to carefully monitor your car. For example, you need to periodically paint or change the alloy wheels. For most, they are easier to paint, but not everyone knows how to do it right. Therefore, our article will tell you how to paint discs.
Paint choice
As a rule, use acrylic or powderpaint. If your four-wheeled friend only needs cosmetic coloring, so to speak, give an appearance, use acrylic paint. You can easily find in specialized stores paint from different manufacturers and in a large color assortment.
Acrylic is also good because it allows you to create a more effective car design and choose the most harmonized with the color of the car shades. But unlike powder paint, acrylic holds less.
Powder paint is more durable, but that itit has become, it is necessary to follow a number of rules without fail when applying it. Also, its use requires complex and expensive technologies. Their essence lies in the fact that the powder paint is applied to the disc, and then fixed in a thermal chamber. Also, acrylic paint allows you to paint parts of the disc, and powder can be used only when painting a whole disc. If you risk painting the discs with powder paint yourself, get all the necessary equipment. It includes a sandblasting machine and a thermocamera. The first one is needed for thorough cleaning and leveling of the disk surface, and the second one is for fixing the paint on the disk surface.
How to paint discs yourself
Here is an instruction that will help you understand how to paint alloy wheels at home:
- Thorough washing of discs. Cleaning should be very high quality. Each disk must be cleaned of dust, dirt and grease. This can be done in the bathroom with a brush and a good detergent (powder).
- Using a drill with a suitable attachment, walk along the surface of the disc, thereby preparing for degreasing and applying paint.
- Degrease the surface of the disc with an abrasivepaper. First use a rough punch (200), then a softer (400) and soft (600). Rinse discs after use with water. It is also possible to clean the discs with a solvent for better degreasing and allow them to dry.
- Eliminate rims and dents on the rim. Finish putty for the car will help in this. At the end, once again, go through a soft nazhdachkoy and pour water.
- Prepare the primer (2-3 cylinders). It is better to buy a quality product in a company store. Also prepare 3-4 paint cylinders for wheel disks. In our case, we will use acrylic. A small note: note that with such paints it is necessary to work in a well-ventilated room with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ideally, you will have gloves and sealed goggles. In addition, a clear varnish (1 bottle) and 646 solvent are needed.
- After degreasing, apply a primer. Do this without haste and evenly, at a distance of 30 cm from yourself. Priming should be done from the inside out. In total it is necessary to apply a primer in 2-3 layers. To make the primer well, periodically shake the can vigorously throughout the entire period of use. After priming, allow the surface to dry.
- After the primer has dried, apply the same principle and paint in 2-3 layers from the inside to the outside.
- And finally, when the paint dries, we make varnish. Apply the lacquer in 2 coats and allow the surface to dry.
That's the whole process of how to properly paintdrives your car. Take your time so that you do not have to redo the work soon. Remember that the look of the car is directly proportional to the amount of time spent on it, and the quality of the various actions to take care of it!
