Hell week how to change life in 7 days
"Hell week" is a severe test forofficers of the Norwegian Armed Forces. Eric Bertrand Larssen - a former commando, and now a psychologist trainer - has developed a "civilian" version of the "hellish week". It allows you to pump your life in 7 days.
So, why do we need this "hellish week" at all?
Eric calls it the prototype of the "ideal week". This is the embodiment of fantasy on the topic: "And what would happen if I used every day of my life to the maximum?" In one week you will see how your life could change if you lived consciously.
The general rules of the week are as follows.
- Get up at five in the morning, go to bed at ten in the evening. The week starts on Monday at five in the morning and ends on Sunday at ten in the evening.
- Be concentrated throughout the week on every business.
- Strictly observe the plan.
- Be active and energetic.
- Do not use social networks during business hours. TV is prohibited.
- No empty conversations and calls to friends during working hours.
- Physical activity - every day.
- Proper nutrition - every day.
Monday: Habits
The main task of Monday is to work on your habits, and you need to do it in three steps:
First of all you will need to make a list of those habits that you already have. Remember both good and bad habits.
Decide which habits you want to erase, and which ones to add to your life. As Ovid said: "Habits become a character."
Plan what exactly you will do tochange the business for the better. Make a list of what you would like to change. And here are two habits from which you can start right on Monday morning. First, move the alarm clock to another location. This will help to partially destroy the automatic chain of your actions in the morning. Secondly, every morning ask yourself the question: "What event today I'm waiting for?" This will help to understand what is really important to you.
Tuesday: mindfulness
Tuesday is devoted to the development of concentration. Remember how a golfer hits the ball. At first he takes aim several times, concentrates and only then he takes the stick to make a blow. If the golfer ran out onto the field and immediately hit the ball, he would not have been able to get into the hole.
It's all about mental preparation. It is closely related to the result that you will get in the end. If before each business meeting we were preparing for it and clearly chose the position that we want to take on it, then the outcome would be quite different.
In order to develop awareness and enter intothe right state of mind, it is enough to ask yourself the right questions throughout the day. It does not matter how much you love your work. The main thing is to do it as well as possible. This is your sacred duty. If you work as a barista in a coffee shop, ask yourself: "How well do I know all sorts of coffee? What should be the temperature of milk in different types of coffee? How can I improve my work? What else can I do to please the customers? How do I hold a cup of coffee, passing it to the client, and what do I tell him? "Ask yourself these questions and keep the right mindset.
Wednesday: time management
Perhaps, never in the history of mankind was thereso it's hard to plan your time, as it is now. The problems of time management are most often associated with the fact that a person is in a tight ring of daily affairs, breaking out of which seems almost impossible.
And most often our absent-mindedness and unproductivenessis connected with the fact that we do not see the whole picture, we do not see what is waiting for us ahead, and therefore we skip. We understand that we lost control of the situation, so we do not have time and we are all out of hand.
What to do?
The military at these times utter two words: "We must stop."
Experts recognize that efficiency begins with the ability to stop amidst this heap of cases, to allocate a few minutes and ask yourself: "Where am I going?"
Yes, stop doing what I did - it's not easy, but it's worth it. Stop all processes and assess the situation. Collect all the details of the puzzle and make an overview of the tasks. Once you organize all the information, put it in the calendar. You need to create a perspective vision of your affairs and projects for the near future, which will help you move faster.
Thursday: out of comfort zone
Thursday is the most difficult day of the "hellish week", because it gives you an invaluable experience that you did not have yet, and literally pushes you out of the comfort zone.
The main feature of Thursday is that you spend the day without sleep. You have to work from five in the morning on Thursday and until five in the morning on Friday. And then you will deal with the affairs of the program on Friday.
After this Thursday you will understand that you can do more. Especially when after an intense work day you can overcome your main fear. You know better how he is.
Friday: rest and recovery
Probably the biggest problem of modernman is that we have completely forgotten how to rest. Often we work not only during working hours, but also on vacation, and on weekends. It turns out that our brain and body are always in a state of tension. We can not afford to fully rest, even one day.
However, we will do this on Friday. At five in the morning, take a hot shower. After that, plan to do those things that you've dreamed of for a long time: go to the movies for a good film, go to a theater, take a cooking class, attend a salsa lesson or play a banjo, wander around the shopping center, and sit in a coffee shop. Do all these things in a row. Feel yourself the master of the day. Feel the buzz from the fact that throughout the whole Friday you can do whatever you want.
Saturday: internal dialogue
We hope that you have seven hours of sleep, becausethat on Saturday you will again have to get up at five in the morning. And today Erik proposes to arrange a "day of happiness." This is the day when only positive thoughts should be in your head. The whole day you will work to create a positive internal dialogue. The task of the day is to show how much the way of thinking affects everything that happens to you.
Start tracking what you think about withthe very morning. Every time a negative thought arises in your head, block it. Every time you feel that your thoughts are poisoning you, change them to constructive ones.
A pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees an opportunity in any difficulty.
Winston Churchill
Sunday: think about yourself
This is the last day of the "hellish week". Today we need to find time to write down what conclusions this week left behind. What did you learn? What do you understand? How has your life changed? What new things did you learn about yourself? What new qualities did you discover? What is really important to you? What difficulties did you have?
In the middle of the day, reward yourself with a gift. And in the evening go to dinner with friends or the second half and share all the impressions of the "hellish week". You managed, congratulations!
And if you want to understand how to make an individual plan for your "hellish week", read Larssen's book "At the Limit".
