Sometimes, due to virus attacks or incorrectuser experience, Windows 7 may not boot or run poorly. In such cases, it's better to hedge and do an iso image of Windows 7, from which you can then roll back the system to a working version.

This will be discussed in detail below.

How to make an image of a Windows 7 system

There are two simple ways how you can make an image of Windows 7 without third-party programs - archiving and burning the image to the media on a schedule. Let us consider each case in more detail.

Creating an image through archiving

To perform the backup, perform the following steps:

  1. We go on the way "Start - Control Panel - Backup and Restore." We click on the "Create a system image" tab, where we are interested in the item "Configure backup".
  2. In a new window there will be two items. Select "Create an image of the system."
  3. Choose a place in the new window where it will be storedimage of the system that will help roll back the OS. It is best to choose a removable media such as a flash drive or a disk. It is not worth keeping a backup on the local disk, because the system can stop working at one time and the image will not be able to start.
  4. After selecting the storage address, that you will archive. You can back up both personal data and just the OS. It all depends on what you need and how much space on the removable media.
  5. In the end, choose "Archive" and wait for the completion of the image, which can take a decent time.

Thus, we created a backup on removable media.

Creating an OS image on a schedule

This method is different in that it is necessary at a certain time to repeat the backup of the OS to the media. This is done like this:

  1. In the same menu, "Configure Backup", you specify the path to save to the storage medium. It should be noted that the medium must be available at a certain time for re-recording.
  2. In the next window, choose whether to archive or let it be selected by default. Click "Next".
  3. In a new window, you can select a scheduleupdate the system. It can be once a week, a month or another time. It all depends on how often you make changes on your computer to files.
  4. We end the process by clicking the "Start Backup" button. We are waiting for the end.

In this case, you will need to repeat the backup after the period that you specified in the schedule.
