FTP server: what is it?

Many gamers and just computer users often heard the term “FTP server”. However, few of the users know what kind of FTP server it is and how it is used.

What is located on FTP servers

An FTP server is just an ordinary computer,which is connected to the internet. This ordinary computer contains public files that can be downloaded by any user or one who has access to them.

However, to download files from it, you musthave a special program and FTP protocol. You can also type in the browser the location address of this server and get to the page with the files on it. You can also connect by file managers in anonymous or normal mode.

Often a login is installed on such a server andpassword for accessing files. If you do not have access, you will need to register. There is also a limit on the number of users that can log into the server to download files. This is done so that the FTP server is not overloaded, since it is, in fact, a simple computer connected to the Internet.

An FTP server is a great alternative to solid storage media just like cloud services.
