If you know how the orchid breeds, you can get several from one favorite flower and at the same time, without spending any funds. But the flower of an orchid is not cheap in a flower shop!

The orchid breeds in two ways:

  1. Vegetative reproduction - with it forthe cultivation of a new plant uses parts of the parent (simple division of a large orchid into several parts, layers, side shoots, cuttings, pseudobulbs);
  2. Seed reproduction.

During vegetative propagation a new orchidgrows absolutely identical with the parent plant, because they have the same set of genes. At seed reproduction, orchids will never accurately replicate their parent plants from which they were obtained.

Many beginners of orchid lovers asTheir first flower is chosen by the orphan Phalaenopsis. This is due to the fact that among all orchid species this flower is considered to be the least whimsical. But, it does not concern the breeding of this flower.

How the phalaenopsis orchid breeds

With room content, this orchid is prettyrarely gives lateral shoots, which are also called "babies". Therefore, they need to be artificially stimulated. The plant is placed in a room with increased temperature (from +23 to +30 degrees C). On the friable peduncle near its base, find a few nodes, which are the sleeping buds of the lateral shoots. They are covered with scales. Around the base of the kidney with a sharp and thin blade cut the scales and carefully remove it with tweezers. To activate the growth of the naked kidney, it must be lubricated either with a special growth activator purchased in the store or fresh birch juice. A couple of months on the site of the sleeping kidney formed a small rosette, consisting of several leaves. At this time, the plant needs not only an elevated temperature, but also in high humidity.

After about 2.5 - 3 months, the outlets will havesmall roots. After they grow to a few centimeters, the baby should be carefully cut off along with a small patch of the parent plant and planted in a separate pot.

The phalaenopsis orchid breeds in another way. For this, it is required to use a discolored and cut flower stem. It is performed the same operation on the awakening of the sleeping kidney, as described above. After that, it is lowered by 5-8 cm into a vessel with clean water or a very weak solution of some mineral fertilizer. Above, both the vessel and the flower stem are covered with a plastic bag. After it appears rosettes and grow their roots they are separated from the peduncle and carefully transplanted into the pot, trying not to damage the fragile roots of young orchids.
