The need for welding works constantlyappears in private homes. Any owner always wants to buy a welding machine, so as not to resort to expensive masters for any small change. Having bought the device, learn the rules of working with it.
The most commonly used in everyday life are metal thicknessup to 2 mm. Such a thin metal is a very good option for the manufacture of pipes, stainless steel tanks and other household items. It is interesting that almost every owner of a welding apparatus knows how to weld metal of this kind, but in order to make the product correctly, it is still necessary to master some mandatory rules.
How to weld metal with arc welding
This kind of welding is advised to be used by beginners, as there will be no need for special experience, since, if already boiled with a semiautomatic device, you will still have to retrain anew.
Here is an example of welding metal thickness of 1.5 mm. To weld this material, we use an electrode of 2 mm (two), in the absence of a deuce, we can cook with a triplet.
There are several ways how to weld metal. Video will help you find your bearings
- The method of continuous welding of the entire weld is that the electrode is not tearing along the entire length of the seam. Used for welding of thick metal, with a ceiling seam.
- Step 1. Set the current value to 40-60 Amps. Adjust slightly or more depending on the characteristics of your device.
- Step 2. Test the device's readiness for operation. To do this, smelt the metal and, if, the root of the seam is calcined, while the metal itself is not burnt - the device is set correctly.
Continuity of welding is ensured by the correctadjustment, electrode, suitable diameter, current supply and a certain speed of electrode control over metal. With the rapid movement of the electrode, the root of the seam will not fail, but the welding seam itself will be welded over the joint. If the operation is too slow, metal will burn.
- The method of intermittent welding or welding by points - is used for welding of thin metal
The instruction how to learn to weld metal in such a way is:
- Step 1. We set the value of the current a little more than usual so that the root of the seam is well cooked.
- Step 2. With strong current and thin metal, you need to make points. To do this, lightly touch the metal and immediately remove the electrode. We quickly repeat the procedure so that the metal does not have time to cool down.
- Step 3. Make sure that the seam is not melted through.
How to weld a thin metal
Semiautomatic welding is convenient in all respects. Perfectly cooks such a tool in small currents, continuously the entire welding seam, and points.
It is also convenient that there is no need to constantly knock the electrode, but you just need to press a button at a certain moment. In the rest, we carry out the work, as it was written above.
Safety rules for the welding machine
- Order and cleanliness at the workplace protects you from injuries.
- Do not expose the instrument to rain or wet conditions.
- Provide quality lighting in the workplace.
- It is forbidden to work near flammable objects, gases, liquids.
- Always check the appliance to avoid electric shock.
- Never touch grounded surfaces during operation.
- Children and any other strangers are forbidden to be near.
- Store the device in a special dry place, not accessible to children, to store electrical appliances.
- Do not repair the machinery yourself.
- Observe the requirements for the use of amperage and loads for this device.
- In your work suit there should not be any unnecessary details, it should not be too spacious. Outside the room wear rubber gloves and special shoes with a non-slip sole.
- Protect your eyes with glasses.
- If a dust separator is provided, do not ignore this function.
- Hide your hair under the headdress.
- Use the vise to release both hands for the welding machine.
- Always follow the safety rules in your work.
- Watch for the integrity of the electrical cord.
- Lubrication and replacement of accessories should be carried out according to the enclosed instructions.
- Watch for cleanliness of tool handles. They should always be dry.
- Do not allow the engine to start unexpectedly.
- Choose only the kinds of work that your welding machine can do. If you give more load than can pull the tool, it will break.
- Avoid direct contact with the welding circuit, since the current from the generator that is at rest is life-threatening.
