The word "infographics", as you might guess, is formed from two other words - "information" and "graphics." And it means literally the presentation of information in a graphic format.

Infographics call all kinds of diagrams,schemes, graphs and images designed to make the data as clear as possible. For example, information on the results of a sociological survey can be presented in the form of text, or perhaps in the form of a diagram, which immediately shows how the various options for answering questions are correlated. Also infographic is a good way to illustrate the trends of something, for example, the dollar rate or oil prices.

Infographics are used not only by journalists. This way of presenting information is popular in educational literature, in geographic materials and even in technical texts.
