Its main link can be considered a loop, which, in turn, consists of a connecting broach and skeleton. The loops located horizontally lie in the basis of the loop rows, and vertically the loop columns. In addition to loops, in the structure of knitted material there may be links of various shapes connecting other, reducing the extensibility or forming the folds.

Knitwear, depending on the fibers included in its composition, is usually divided into a homogeneous and mixed. Homogeneous includes only one type of raw material, whereas mixed involves a combination of different species.
