What is a choir?
There are various creative groups: ensembles, groups, duets, choirs, and each has its own characteristics. In this article we will consider in more detail what a chorus is.
The word "chorus" came to us from the Greek language andliterally means "crowd". But in the usual sense the choir is a collective of artists, in which two or more singers sing the same musical part. This is the main difference between the choir and other musical groups. The origin of the choirs is attributed to the times of Ancient Greece and is associated with the appearance of the theater. True, the significance of the choirs at that time did not at all resemble the present, unless by a large number of people.
With the development of religion, the choir acquired additionalfunction and musical performances in it became more. Sometimes whole pieces of music are called choruses, in which each vocal part is performed in several voices. But this is rather a literal and familiar understanding of the choir. There are portable meanings of the word.
So, for example, to say about the simultaneityand the compatibility of the performance of something, they often talk about the choir, more often referring to creative activity. But also to emphasize the compatibility and being in one group, we can also meet the use of the word "chorus". For example: "Suddenly the song struck in chorus, slapstick, consonant!" or "On the airy ocean ... the choirs are harmoniously shining in the fog".
