What is terrorism?
"Terrorism" and "terror" are single-root words, their common root in Latin means "fear, horror." Let us consider in more detail what terrorism is.
Terrorism is a policy aimed at applyingterror, which leads to panic, fear of the population of a particular country. This is a measure of political and economic impact on the state, the desire to prove its strength.
Types of terrorism
- Political terrorism, its purpose is to achieve political changes in the country or undermine existing international relations.
- Nationalistic terrorism, aimed at inciting ethnic hatred, the allocation of a certain nation as the dominant in the country.
- Religious, based on religious fanaticism, which involves fighting with all dissidents.
- Criminal, formed on the basis of any criminal business.
- Ecological, it is implemented by groups opposing pollution of nature, construction of objects harmful to health, etc.
Features of terrorism
- Unpredictability.
- Cruelty of methods and means, up to the killing of innocent people.
- The variety of forms, each of which has its own characteristics, and therefore different methods of combating terrorism.
- Participation in terrorism of criminal communities, certain political forces in the country, which makes fighting with it more difficult.
