What is a cover?

Very often we hear unfamiliar words to us andwe try to understand their meanings. So, recently in the music parades and musical programs the word cover is widely used, so it is worthwhile to figure out what a cover is.

The concept of "cover"

Cover (cover) is translated from English - "shelter" or "protection." This term is used to refer to a new interpretation of a famous song or play.

A cover or a cover version is a new readingall known and very popular hit. More detailed, this is the performance of a famous song or melody by a new collective or singer. Very often the covers sound absolutely new and differ significantly from the original. It happens that the cover version sounds much better, and no one even remembers the original version of the composition. The lead singer of "Soundgarden" Chris Cornell performed the famous song "Billy Jean", which in the original sings Michael Jackson in a slower version. This move breathed new life into the already forgotten melody. Quite often cover versions of compositions are published as complete collections. This collection is called tribute (from the English "tribute" tribute).

What is a cover band?

A cover band is a music group thatperforms only covers of famous compositions. For a successful cover band, there must be two kinds of vocals - female and male. This is quite natural, because male songs even in cover versions are better perceived if they are performed by a man, and vice versa. In fact, the performance of covers is not an easy task. After all, musicians need to try very hard not only not to spoil the famous and everyone's favorite hit, but also to give it a new sound to be remembered. Many modern well-known music bands started out as cover bands, gradually developing their own author's repertoire.

Today, the cover versions of the songs are quite widespread, and no matter how we treat them, many of them are very popular and successful.
