How to make water glow?

There are many ways to make a glowing liquid from improvised means. The following guide will tell you how to make a luminous liquid with luminol.

Luminol under acidic and neutral conditions exudesa bright blue glow, so this substance is quite suitable for our purposes. We offer you three ways that will allow you to achieve about ten minutes of bright glow of water.

Method one

Necessary ingredients:

  • Glowing water
    luminol - 3 g;
  • hydrogen peroxide - 3% 80 ml;
  • copper sulfate - 3 g;
  • caustic soda - 1 g;
  • distilled water - 110 ml.

To make the water luminous, you need:

  1. Wear rubber gloves, as work with chemical reagents is to be carried out.
  2. Dissolve in 10 ml. water caustic soda.
  3. Pour out 100 ml. distilled water into the glass container.
  4. Pour the powder of luminol into this water and dissolve it.
  5. Add hydrogen peroxide to the solution.
  6. Add copper sulphate to the solution.
  7. At the end add a solution of caustic soda to the total container.

If you want the water to glow with a different color,then you can add any fluorescent dye to the solution. The most common and available are zelenka and iodine. Accordingly, you can get green and red light.

Method of the second

Necessary ingredients:

  • high glass capacity;
  • hydrogen peroxide 3% - 10 ml;
  • solution of luminol 3% - 5 ml;
  • manganese - a few grains;
  • detergent solution - 20 ml.
    Glowing water

As in the first method, you need to put on rubber gloves and connect all the components in a special order:

  1. In a high container, pour in the detergent solution.
  2. Add a solution of luminol.
  3. Pour hydrogen peroxide into the container.
  4. Rub several crystals of potassium permanganate and add to the solution.

When you mix the resulting solution, it will begin to foam strongly and sparkle brightly.

Method Three

Necessary ingredients:

  • luminol - 0.15 g;
  • dry alkali - 35 g;
    Glowing water
  • Dimexide - 30 ml;
  • Glass container with a lid of 0.5 liters.

This solution does not require the addition of water. It is necessary only:

  1. Wear gloves.
  2. Mix in the container luminol, dimexid and dry alkali.
  3. Close tightly the container and shake.

As a result, you can get a bright glow. If the light begins to fade, you can open the lid. The influx of air will give new strength to the glow. You can add a fluorescent dye for staining.

Where to get the reagents

Luminol can be purchased at a pharmacy or in a storewith chemical reagents. Hydrogen peroxide and dimexide are also sold at the pharmacy. Copper vitriol can be found in the horticultural stores: it is used as a fertilizer and a means for processing plants. Dry alkali is available in specialized stores with chemical reagents.
