All organisms on our planet are made up of cells. Cells are divided into eukaryotes and prokaryotes.

Eukaryotes

To begin with, it should be determined what iseukaryotes. If you translate this term from the Greek language, then it is translated as owning the kernel. The core of such organisms contains the genetic code. Such organisms include plants, mushrooms and animals.

The structure of a cell of eukaryotes is different for different organisms. The cell of eukaryotes has a rather complex structure. All eukaryotic cells consist of a nucleus and a cytoplasm.

The cell of eukaryotes has a membrane calledplasmalemma. It protects the cell, selectively allowing the cell to penetrate certain substances. From the inside, the cytoplasm adjoins it. Various substances are stored in the cytoplasm. In the cell there is an endoplasmic reticulum that promotes the circulation of substances along the cell, as well as their transfer from one cell to another. Ribosomes, which are also in the cell, are responsible for the synthesis of proteins. In addition, the cell may contain the Golgi complex, mitochondria, lysosomes, centrioles. The nucleus of the cell contains DNA and is responsible for the metabolism. It is covered with a special membrane, through which the metabolism takes place between the nucleus and the cytoplasm.

Having considered the structure of eukaryotes, it becomesunderstandable what eukaryotes are, and that they can not exist without a nucleus. Eukaryotic cells are mononuclear and multinucleated. The nucleus can have a diverse form, which depends on the shape of the cell itself.

What is the difference between eukaryotes and prokaryotes

Prokaryotes are organisms that are found in cells that lack a nucleus. The absence of a nucleus is the main thing, than prokaryotes differ from eukaryotes. Prokaryotes include, for example, bacteria.

Eukaryotes and prokaryotes also differ in sizeand volume. Eukaryotes have a much larger size than prokaryotes. Eukaryotes are usually multicellular organisms, and prokaryotes are unicellular. Prokaryotes reproduce by simple division of a cell in half, and eukaryotes have a more complex mechanism of reproduction. DNA of eukaryotes is located in the nucleus, and prokaryotes in the cytoplasm.
