To find the border between Europe and Asia, foryou will need to open a geographic atlas. You will see that most often the border between these parts of the world goes along the eastern base of the Ural Mountains, Mugodzhar, and the Emba River, along the northern shore of the Caspian Sea, along the Kerch Strait and the Kumo-Manych Basin. According to our country, the total length of the border is more than five and a half thousand kilometers. Of these, 2,000 km stretch along the Ural Ridge, and nine hundred meters along the Caspian Sea.

It is worth noting that in some sources the boundary between Europe and Asia is determined by the watershed of the Ural Ridge, namely, along the Ural River, as well as the watershed of the Caucasian Range.

How the border goes

Now let us examine in more detail where the border of Europe andAsia. As we noted earlier, its line begins from the coast of the Kara Sea. It goes from the eastern base of the Ural range. The border line runs between the Republic of Komi and the Nenets Autonomous District from the West and the Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets districts from the east.

Then the border goes to the east of the administrative border between the two regions - from the west of the Perm Territory, and from the East - from the Sverdlovsk Region. The south-western regions of the latter remain in Europe.

Further, the border leaves in Europe Satkinsky,Katav-Ivanovo and Ashinsky districts of the Chelyabinsk region, and in addition - the western territories of cities and districts of regional subordination, bordering with Bashkiria. The border also divides the Orenburg region, leaving in Europe a large part of its territory. According to the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan, the border continues to the south. There she walks along the eastern foot of Mugodzhar and exits to the Caspian lowland along the Emba River. Then, through the Caspian Sea, it gets to the mouth of the river Kuma, after it passes along the Kumo-Manych depression to the lower reaches of the Don and then leaves along the shore of the Azov Sea from the south.
