We all understand that the switches are installedto open the electrical circuit so that the light in the room does not burn constantly, but only when it is needed. If you decided to call a specialist to install a new switch, be prepared that for a simple replacement of the switch (without wiring to it) you will have to pay about 700 rubles, besides expecting the master's house for several hours.

And how to connect the switch yourself? This is not difficult at all. It is enough to observe security measures when working with electricity, to understand the device switch and have the skills to work with a conventional screwdriver. In this case, you will save money for the work, and the time for connecting the switch you will take no more than 20 - 30 minutes.

Types of switches

With all the variety of simple single-keyswitches, sold in stores, they can all be divided into two types - switches for indoor and outdoor installation. To select the right switch, you must first determine how it will approach the voltage cable - inside the wall or on top. If the cable is hiding under the plaster, an internal switch is installed. If the wire goes over the wall, then the outdoor switch is put.

Selecting the location of the switch

By modern standards, switchesare installed at a distance of 1 - 1, 5 m from the floor level. The switch must be on the side of the doorway that is opposite to the opening axis of the door. In this case, when entering a dark room, you can freely reach out to the switch directly from the threshold. Otherwise, the switch will be outside the door.

Preparatory work

Find in the room a junction box, inwhich connects the wires from the chandelier, the power cable and the switch. If there is no such box, it must be mounted. In the box, the switch is connected to the luminaire.

From the location of the proposed installation of the switchslide the electrical cable to the switch box. Wiring is either laid over the wall and hides in the cable duct, or carried out inside the wall. In the latter case, it is necessary to preliminarily check the hole in the wall with a perforator.

Then turn off the electricity in the apartment and carry out further work in the absence of voltage in the network.

Switch connection

Put the wires in the switchbox from the switch, the chandelier and the power source.
The switch is installed on the phase conductorsupply cable. If the switch is put on the neutral wire, the lamp base will always be energized, even when the switch is off. In this situation, even with the usual replacement of a light bulb, a person can get under tension with the most tragic consequences for himself. The phase wire is determined by means of an indicator before the moment of switching off the voltage.
In the junction box, neutral wires fromthe luminaire and the supply cable are twisted together. Phase wires from a light bulb and a current source are connected to two cores of the cable going to the switch.

Installation of the external switch

If the wiring is to go over the wall, first place the plywood out of the plywood to the place where the outdoor switch is installed. This is done with a drill, two dowels and screws.
Next, we clean the cores of the supplied cable and insert them into the terminals of the operating mechanism of the switch.
Fix the connections with screws.
We fasten the working mechanism to the junket, install it from above and insert the key into the switch.

Installation of the internal switch

If you have posted a wire hidden underplaster, you need to install an internal switch. Connecting the switch to the cable is similar to the above. The only way to fix the switch to the wall is changing.

A circular groove is preliminarily made in the wall and a plastic pad is inserted into it.
The operating mechanism of the switch is fixed inside the podzroetnik by means of a spacer mechanism or screwed to it with cogs.
On top of the working mechanism, a frame and a key are applied.
