How do I install the fog lights?

In today's article, we will focus onhow to install the fog lights on the vehicle. In addition, we can not ignore some aspects related to the rules for their installation (in accordance with the traffic regulations GOST 8769-75) and the requirements imposed on them (certificate of conformity under UNECE Regulation No. 19).

Description

The main purpose of the fog lightsis the creation of optimal illumination of the path during fog, heavy snow and rain. Also properly adjusted and installed, they are used to illuminate the roadside or instead of the passing beam

Instruments

First of all, we buy a set of fog lamps, which consists of:

  • fog lamps;
  • necessary cords and terminals for them;
  • relay for 4 contacts;
  • switch;
  • remote fuse.

Of the tools, however, you must have the following:

  • screwdrivers (cross and flat);
  • keys on 8 and 10;
  • pliers;
  • also take a few auxiliary connectors, several different clamps and fasteners;

After that, once again make sure of the safety of the purchased set and proceed to the next step - installation.

Installation

First of all, we completely disconnect the battery,thereby excluding even the slightest possibility of the occurrence of any closure. Next, we inspect the car for mechanical problems, which can reduce all work to zero. Some experts recommend in advance to plan the next way of laying the wiring.

For convenience, the entire process can be divided into several stages: mounting on the bumper, installing a specific button on the car dashboard and final connection.

Mounting on the bumper

  1. Remove the bumper carter, performing a protective function and, accordingly, the bumper itself.
  2. After it is removed, we will see special dimples for headlights - as a rule, they are closed with the help of stubs.
  3. We remove the headlights from the packaging and install them in these niches.
  4. Then fasten them with screws.
  5. After that, pull out the cords from under the hood and fasten them with clamps.
  6. Cords "minus" connect to the body of the car.
  7. Once this is complete, return the crankcase and bumper to its original position. The main thing - do not rush and connect the cords to the plug, directly on the headlights. The other side of the cord is pulled inside the car.

Setting the switch

  1. We open the panel and the overlay of the central console,located under the steering wheel. Do not disregard other components that may cause inconvenience during installation. If necessary, temporarily dispose of them.
  2. After that, remove the blank from the unused button and connect the cords of the contacts to it.
  3. Attention! In some cases, some problems were fixed when connecting a new component to an existing electrical circuit.

Connectivity

  1. After opening the fuse box, connect the terminal via the headlamp start button to a suitable relay (85).
  2. Then connect the terminal of the dark cord to the relay, and the other side - to the body of the car.
  3. The terminal with 2 cords is connected to niche 87, and the bends to certain fuse connectors.
  4. After that pull out the harness located in the hood, and connect the terminals to the second fuse connectors.
  5. Remember, connect the red cord terminal to the connector 30 using the connector. And for the fuse block we put 1 relay and 2 fuses.
  6. After that, we check everything again, connect it to the battery and start the car.

Installation rules and requirements for fog lamps

  1. The installation of fog lamps is mandatory only for vehicles used in tourist routes or in mountainous terrain.
  2. The permissible amount of PTF for the front installation is 2.
  3. The color emitted by a single headlamp should not differ from the other, but it should not exceed the range of the white or selective-yellow spectrum.
  4. The fog lamps must be visible in different planes for the minimum allowable angle of visibility.
  5. None of the PTF holes should be placed higher than the hole in the dipped beam headlamp.
  6. And finally, it should be noted that it is necessary to purchase only those headlights on which there is an official mark, consisting of a circle with the letter E and the subsequent number of the country.

A few tips

  1. Keep the diffusers always clean, as when they are contaminated, the lighting level will decrease.
  2. Fog lights can not be washed with water (snow). Only polishing is allowed. This can be done in any workshop.
  3. In the car, it is always necessary to store spare lamps and fuses.
