How to make a machete?

Machete is a long, thin, but wide knife with a blade on one side. You can do it yourself from improvised materials. How to do it - we will look at it step-by-step in the article.

Below is described what materials and tools are needed for making machetes.

Materials and tools for machetes

• A sheet of steel or other durable metal with a thickness of 3-4 mm, measuring 80 by 900 mm;
• steel rivets;
• stick for handle;
• epoxy resin;
• jigsaw or hacksaw for metal;
• roulette;
• vise;
• apparatus for grinding;
• rasp.

Work on the machete

1. Determine the shape of the blade and cut it out, first holding the piece of metal in the vice.
2. Rule the blade using a grinding machine.
3. We make a handle of two wooden halves. To do this, the bars need to be adjusted to the length and width, and then drill through the wood and metal. All the adjoining parts of the handle are smeared with epoxy resin. Through the holes we pass the steel rivets and leave the entire structure in the vice for the night.
4. At the last stage we sharpen the blade.
