All professions deserve respect, but there arethey are the only ones who are not accepted by everyone - they are priests. Only those who strongly believe in God and want to become his servant can ensure that they are accepted as a priest. In this article, we will try to answer the question of how to become a priest.

The Way to the Priesthood

This way is not simple, it requires a younga man of full understanding of what he is on. And here faith itself, its dogmas and norms, is important. True, there are some positions that do not apply to faith, but they must be exactly feasible.

  • A man aged 18 to 35 can join priests.
  • He must have at least completed secondary education. To be unmarried or to be in the first marriage.
  • A prerequisite is the recommendation of a parish priest or bishop.
  • Must pass the exams. This is the history of the Bible, the history of the Orthodox and Russian churches, church-wide history, the Church's charter and the Catechism. These are oral exams. A written examination is a biblical or church-historical account.
  • If the admission committee has additionalquestions, then you have to answer them. Usually ask for the knowledge of prayers, whether you can read the Psalter and so on. Sometimes even a musical ear is checked.

If the commission suits you, you become a seminary student, where you study for 5 years. By the way, exams are held in August. Study begins on September 1.

After graduation, the seminarians areparishes through the diocese. It is at this moment that everyone decides for himself whether to be a monk or not. If you finally decided, then take tonsure. By the way, getting married is best before taking the rank. The bride can be found while still attending the seminary.

Professions are different, and everyone chooses only their own. We recommend that you read the Catalog of Professions.
