Kharkov is one of the largest cities in Ukraine. Very often it is called the scientific and technical capital: a large number of industrial enterprises, scientific and educational institutions are concentrated there. All this attracts a large number of people. We analyzed the possible options and are ready to tell you how best to get to Kharkov from Moscow or St. Petersburg.

By Train

First, let's look at how to get to Kharkovby train. The fact is that this is the most convenient option for traveling to this Ukrainian city. Between Moscow and Kharkov, about 10 trains run daily. In Moscow, they arrive and depart from the Kursk railway station, and the journey takes 13-14 hours. The most comfortable are the direct trains Moscow-Kharkov, Moscow-Dnepropetrovsk and Moscow-Donetsk. Almost half of trains are trains connecting Moscow with the resort towns of Sevastopol, Simferopol, Kerch and Berdyansk. These trains are especially in demand during the holiday season.

Between Kharkov and St. Petersburg there are threetrains: one straight and two passing. In St. Petersburg, they receive and send the main station, and the journey from North Palmira to Kharkov will last approximately 19 hours.

In addition, train travel has one more important advantage: the stations are located in the city center near the metro stations and public transport stops.

By airplane

But the direct aviation communication betweenUnfortunately, Kharkov, Moscow and St. Petersburg do not exist at the moment. Until recently, Aeroflot carried out one flight a day on the route Kharkov-Moscow, but because of the unsettled situation in the East of Ukraine, this flight was temporarily canceled. Between Kharkov and St. Petersburg there is no direct air service. But to Kharkov from Moscow and St. Petersburg can be reached by air transport with a transfer in Kiev or European cities. However, there are only a few flights between Kiev and Kharkov, which means that this trip will not be faster than the train, and taking into account the need for waiting at two airports is not the most comfortable.

By train and plane

Another interesting option to get to Kharkov- combine rail and air transport. The matter is that between Kiev and Kharkov there is a comfortable express Intercity +. The trip takes about 4 hours. Arriving at the airport Boryspil, having reached the Kiev station and having passed part of the way on this express, you can shorten the travel time from Moscow to Kharkov almost 2 times.

By car

Travel by car from Moscowto Kharkov - not the most convenient option. Between these cities about 750 kilometers, but on average this road will need to spend almost 11 hours. The situation with travel from St. Petersburg to Kharkov is even worse - the road will in any case go through Moscow, but the distance will be 2 times more and the journey will take more than 22 hours. The main reason is not the best state of Ukrainian and Russian roads. In addition, do not forget about the need for customs, and most of the time you will need to spend not on passport control and car inspection, but on the turn.
