To start with, this term refers to slangand is used in the environment of computer technology. In fact, it's just about the cords that connect these or other devices. Thus, the patch cord is a patch cord or cable. By the technology of creation, it is common to divide the patch cords into electrical and fiber optic cables. A good example of the operation of these devices, as well as other useful information, you will learn in our article on how to connect two printers.

What does the straight and cross patch cord mean?

It is accepted to divide all cables into two types. The first and most familiar of them is direct. They are needed, for example, to connect the network to your computer. The ends of this cable use the same wiring layout, which implies the versatility of such a cable.

The second type is cross patch cords. The difference between the first and second type is that the ends of the cross cable have a cross structure. This will allow you, for example, to connect two computers at home with each other and create a local network. For more information, see How to configure a local network.

Technically, a cross-over cable may well have such a design: at one end, the T568A circuit is used, and on the other end, the T568B. A straight cable will be provided with a T568B circuit on both sides.
