After all, you can put an adsl-modem, a mobile modem or extend an optical fiber of the high-speed Internet, you can also establish a wireless connection. And this does not even affect the choice of providers that offer Internet services.
Many people prefer to installAdsl-modem, which has a number of advantages over other types of Internet, but not everyone knows how to properly connect the Adsl-modem.
Advantages of Adsl-Internet
Adsl-Internet is an Internet over the telephone line. Accordingly, such an Internet has several advantages over other types of Internet:
- For the Adsl-Internet there is no need to stretch the extra wires, because the Internet is connected via a telephone line, which in most apartments is by default.
- You can pay for the Internet together with a telephone bill.
- The speed of the Internet is higher than that of the mobile Internet and older generations of communication.
However, such an Internet has disadvantages. Basic - the data transfer speed is lower than that of the Internet via optical fiber. Yes, and the speed of the Internet directly depends on the equipment of the telephone operator. If there is no necessary equipment, the data transmission will be low, and, maybe, even the connection will be impossible.
Connecting an Adsl modem
To connect the Internet through an ADSL modem, you must:
- We connect a splitter to the telephone line, which will divide the phone and the Internet into separate lines.
- From the splitter we connect the wire to the modem in the necessary socket.
- From the modem, connect the wire to a computer or laptop to use the Internet.
After that it will only be necessary to properly configure the modem to use it.
Setting up an Adsl modem
When you connect the modem to a computer or laptopIt is important that the computer saw the equipment. If this does not happen, you must download the necessary network drivers or install them from the disk. After that we proceed to setup:
- We launch any browser and register the ip-address of the modem in the address bar, which can be viewed in the documentation. The address is usually 192.168.1.1.
- In the window that opens, enter the password "1234" or the one specified in the documentation. The password can also be the word "admin".
- The next window is usually asked to enter a new password to log in. Some modems may not have this feature.
- In the modem settings window, set the mode of operation to "Bridge", VPI-0, VCI-35.
- Normally, the modem will receive the Internet settings automatically. However, if this does not happen, you must enter all the provider's data from the documentation in the modem settings.
- Save all the values and reboot the modem.
After all the manipulations, the Internet should work stably.
