How to connect a modem to Rostelecom?

Rostelecom is one of the most commonproviders of Russia. Not surprisingly, many people use his services. In addition, Rostelecom often has shares in which they offer favorable conditions for connecting and purchasing modems.

Modem connection

To connect the modem to Rostelecom, in addition to it we will need a computer with a network card and a splitter:

First you need to connect a splitter. It is put at the beginning of the telephone cable (to telephones, modems and other devices). A standard telephone cable with a standard telephone swath is inserted into it.
Next, two cables with the same plugs are inserted into it. One goes to the telephone line, the other to the Internet. Which cable, where we connect, is written next to the outputs on the splitter.
Now the telephone Internet cable is connected to the modem.
Connect the power supply to the modem and plug it into the socket.
A network cable (Ethernet) is connected from the modem to the network card of the computer.

Configuring the modem

To configure the modem, follow theconfiguration and connection attached to your contract. The modem is configured via the computer's browser, you need to do the following steps:

Open the network connections and make sure that the new connection is created and connected.
If not, check that all devicesare properly connected and a green light is on the network card. If necessary, create a new local connection with the ip address 192.168.1.0 and the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (or others specified in the instructions of the Rostelecom).
Open the browser.
Enter in the address bar 192.168.1.1, only digits with dots, without spaces and other characters.
The modem interface opens. Further settings are different for different models and are produced according to the instructions that are attached on the CD web stream and in print.
