What is vodka?

Vodka is a very strong drink thatconsists of a mixture of purified and prepared water and rectified alcohol (ethyl). The strength of this drink varies from 40% to 56%. Most often you can buy 40% vodka.
The main criterion for evaluating vodka isdegree of purification. In vodka of poor quality, essential oils and various toxic substances can be detected, which is unacceptable for a drink that has good quality.
Alcohol with a high degree of purification is made from the mixturepotato and corn, and from each of these ingredients separately, molasses or mixtures of sugar beet, corn, potato, molasses and sugar in varying proportions.
Regarding the degree of purification, alcohol is divided into:
- 96% vol. - this is alcohol of the first grade;
- 96.2% by volume. - this is an alcohol of higher purification;
- 96.5% vol. - this is alcohol "Extra";
- 69.3% vol. - this is alcohol "Lux";
- Medical alcohol;
- Anhydrous alcohol.
The process of making vodka
- Reception of rectified alcohol;
- Preparation and purification of water;
- Preparation of water-alcohol mixture;
- Carrying out preliminary filtration, and also processing by the activated coal;
- Carrying out the second stage of filtration and bringing the strength of the drink to the required level;
- Spilling the ready-made drink into the correct container.
The quality of vodka is determined by 2 types of indicators:
- Analytical - is the presence of any organic impurities in the drink, alkalinity and alcohol content;
- Organoleptic - it's flavor, taste and transparency.
