We grow onions on the windowsill

  • Method number 1. Grow onions in water. Check the home stocks of onions - by spring it begins to germinate and start roots even lying in the refrigerator or pantry. Select sprouted bulbs - for food they are no longer suitable, but for our purposes will be just right. If you do not have any onion stocks, buy a pair of small onions, pick onions of one size, slightly cut off the tops of them and soak for a day in warm water. Choose empty jars of suitable diameter - it is necessary that the bulbs lie on the edges of the container filled with water, plunging into it no more than a third, and do not fall through. We put jars of onions on a well-lit windowsill, do not forget to periodically change the water in them, and after two weeks we begin to taste the first crop.
  • Method number 2. Grow onions in the soil. This method is more labor-intensive, but also more effective. Before growing onions at home in the soil, select a wide and flat tray, drawer or container suitable for these purposes, about ten centimeters high. Buy in the flower shop soil for indoor plants (you can get by with ordinary garden land). Get the planting material - a small onion with a diameter of about three centimeters, cut off the onions tops and soak them in warm water for one day. Two-thirds fill the box with earth, put bulbs in it, almost close to each other, pour abundantly with warm water and put it in a dark warm place for the pasture. When the first leaves appear, move the box to a brightly lit window sill, water the soil regularly and in three weeks you will get the first harvest.
