Snowdrops are the earliest spring primroses,there are more than 18 species. These flowers are common in Europe, on the coasts of the Black and Caspian Seas and in Asia Minor, and the largest number of snowdrops is found in the Caucasus.

Growing spring primroses in the woods under the treesand bushes, on the slopes of mountains, along rivers, on meadows and even in city parks. These beautiful flowers prefer open spaces that are more accessible to the sun. The soil in the places where the snowdrops grow should be loose and damp. These flowers almost never occur on sandy soils, where there is stagnant water and the sun's rays do not penetrate well.

Six species of snowdrops, growing in the Caucasus,because of their disappearance are listed in the Red Book. For the destruction of rare plant species, their collection and sale to the offender is punishable by a formidable fine. Despite the fact that other types of these flowers are not under state protection, it is not worthwhile to disrupt them. To snowdrops pleased the eye, not only on the thawed patches in the forest, you can grow them at home in the front garden or even on the windowsill, thus helping to preserve our nature.
