How to apply a liquid wallpaper?

We will tell you how to apply a liquid wallpaper: what kind of tool is needed, whether it is necessary to prepare walls beforehand, how to build a dry mix. Required Tools

First of all, prepare the tool that you will need in the process of applying liquid wallpaper:

  • Plastic spatula,
  • Trowel for leveling the mortar,
  • Linen spray (spray) for wetting surfaces,
  • Tazes and buckets in which the solution will be mixed,
  • Cushion for soil
  • Spotlight or powerful lantern.

Wall Preparation

After all the necessary tools have been prepared, the walls must be pre-treated. It takes place in two main stages:

  • Align walls if they have irregularities. To do this, it will be enough ordinary plaster with fine sand and starting putty. Putty is only required if you use rough plaster.
  • Priming and painting. Experienced masters advise under liquid wallpaper to use a facade primer, that is, a ground coat intended for facade work. Under the liquid wallpaper there will be enough two layers of primer.

First we proceed to leveling:

  1. We remove all old materials from the walls: wallpaper, paint, primer, plaster, etc.
  2. We also get rid of all objects sticking out of the wall: nails, screws, screws, protruding pieces of reinforcement.
  3. We fix all protruding plastic elements and pipes.
  4. We laminate (fill with plaster) small holes, holes, hollows. Align ledges with a height of more than two millimeters.
  5. We seal plaster all the joints and seams on the walls, as well as cracks and cracks.
  6. We pass a thin layer of plaster over the entire surface of the walls, finally leveling it.

Then proceed to priming and painting:

  1. We apply the first layer of primer and wait for its complete drying.
  2. Priming the surface of the walls a second time and again leaving the primer to dry. If the primer is used inexpensive paint is not too high quality, then we ground the walls in three or four layers.
  3. We paint walls with a usual water-emulsion, which must necessarily be white. The white color of the walls is an indispensable condition for their preparation for applying liquid wallpaper.

Preparation of liquid wallpaper for application on walls -this is a kneading solution. Dry mix of liquid wallpaper is sold in two forms: finished, which should only be diluted with water, and professional, which requires the addition of color, decorative components and water.

In the preparation of liquid wallpaper dry solutionmixed with water and allowed to swell for a while. Mix the solution strictly according to the instructions, observing the dosage and the technology. And yet, there are several universal recommendations that will make it easier for you to mix.

  1. Spread wallpaper with warm water.
  2. Knead the solution with hands.
  3. First time mix only one package.
  4. Mix the solution with one whole packet, do not divide it into parts! Only then all components of the mixture are mixed evenly.

Application procedure

When the wallpaper is ready to be applied,practice, that is, nabeyte hand on a small section of the wall, which then will not be too noticeable (under the window, behind the furniture). Correlate the selected site for wallpapering with the volume of the mixed solution and proceed to the process.

  1. Apply a plastic spatula to the selected area of ​​the wall. Apply the solution in small portions, as usual putty. If the mixture does not adhere well to the wall, then add a little water to it.
  2. Using a trowel, level the applied mixture, distributing it with a thin layer to achieve a glow effect.
  3. Using a spotlight or a flashlight, highlight the wall on the side to see and correct the flaws: rips and stains.
  4. Go to the adjacent section of the wall and repeat the whole process, starting with the application of the mortar with a spatula.
  5. Spray the boundary of the treated area with water so that the transitions are not noticeable.
  6. Apply liquid wallpaper across the entire width of the wall from corner to corner, gradually moving from top to bottom.
  7. At the end of the work, sprinkle the wall with water and lightly flatten the wallpaper with a spatula.
  8. Wait until the complete drying of the liquid wallpaper, which takes about a day.
