We will also try to tell you how to take care of a shepherd puppy.

About the health of the dog and about what vaccinations he receivednecessary, read in another our article: "What vaccinations do puppies do?". And the problems of training and feeding a dog of this breed are covered here - "How to raise a sheepdog?".

How to watch the dog's nose

Always the nose of the dog should be wet andcold. When the dog sleeps, the nose may dry out slightly. But when the dog wakes up, it must become wet again. If on the nose of your pet suddenly appeared cracks, it dried up, or a crust appeared, the shepherd should immediately lead to the vet.

Oral cavity

The lips of the dog should always remain clean andbe tightly compressed. It is necessary to watch, that on labiums there were no reddenings and cracks. Teeth should be white and not have large deposits of tartar. Gums should remain pink and do not blush at the base of the tooth. Dogs need to brush their teeth at least once a week and can do it in various ways, and there are a lot of them. You can give the dog products of buffalo skin or cartilage, they remove the plaque from the teeth by a mechanical method.

Eyes

The dog must remain wet andshiny, and the mucous membrane of the eye is pinkish in color. The dog's eyes can be regularly treated with special eye drops for dogs. Before using these drops, check their expiration date.

Ears

The auditory canal should always remain outsideclean. In it, wool should not grow. You can clean your ears once every two weeks. For this, special drops are also invented. The procedure is to inject the tip of the vial into the ear canal and squeeze out a small amount of solution to remove the vial and wipe the ear with cottonwood.

Claws

In dogs, claws always grow as they wear offin the process of life. If this does not happen, the claws begin to wrap and bang while walking. In this case, the claws need to be trimmed. But in no case you should not touch blood vessels on the claws of a dog. They can be distinguished by a pink triangle. If, suddenly, during the clipping of your claws accidentally touched this vessel, immediately treat the wound with hydrogen peroxide or a hemostatic pencil.

We care for the hair

Wool has a very important role in the life of the GermanShepherds, because she protects her from frost and heat. As a rule, dogs living on the street are subject to moulting twice a year. But with dogs living in the house, the situation is more complicated. They are susceptible to molting all year round. If you comb out your pet every day, it will lead to a lesser link. Frequent washing with shampoo can adversely affect the allocation of oily layer on the coat, and the dog can begin to freeze or vice versa suffer from heat. In the summer, if your pet is bathed in a pond, then it is desirable to rinse it so that particles of sand or algae do not cause the dog to have inflammation on the skin. If the dog is soiled in tar or other lubricant, do not try to reduce the stains with toxic substances, but moisten them with vegetable oil and bathe the dog.

In fact, the process of taking care of a German shepherd does not differ much from the process of caring for other breeds of dogs, with the exception of some nuances.
