Saline is a very effective antiseptic, and is therefore widely used as a first aid and home-based therapeutic treatment for various infections.

Preparation of saline solution

This is a very simple process, since the salt is very soluble in water. It should be taken into account that for medicinal purposes saline solutions can be prepared only from pure sea salt or common salt.

  1. To prepare the solution, take a container with the right amount of water.
  2. Add salt in specified proportions.
  3. After this, thoroughly mix the solution until the salt dissolves completely. In hot water the salt dissolves much more quickly.

To prepare a saturated solution, the salt is gradually added to water and stirred until complete dissolution.

This continues until the salt dissolves. If the salt with prolonged stirring does not dissolve in water, but settles on the bottom of the glass, then its content in water has reached the maximum possible under normal conditions. Such a solution is called saturated. It can be used, for example, to grow salt crystals.
