The word "publication" has two main meanings. The first: the disclosure of any information, its disclosure to the general public. The second: a uniform in content and form work, which was published.

Types of publications

To better understand what a publication is, consider several types of publication as an example.

  • One of the most popular types of publication is the media(mass media). The media is a system of bodies that engages in the public dissemination of information through the collection, processing and dissemination of information of interest to the masses.
  • Samizdat - unofficial distributionworks, journalism and religious texts in the USSR in spite of strict censorship. At that time, copies of such materials were made by the authors themselves or by interested readers without permission from the authorities. Copies were photographed, copied by hand, typed.
  • A live publication is a scientific work placed with free access on the Internet. The author of a live publication monitors her condition, if necessary, makes corrections, updates and improves it.
