Russia is a huge country where you can observe several climatic zones and belts. So what are the climatic zones in Russia?

Arctic belt

This belt is considered the coldest. In winter, the temperature drops to -60, and in summer rarely rises above +5 degrees. It is worth noting that the winter in the Arctic belt lasts 10 months, then comes summer - there is simply no spring and autumn here. In the Arctic belt, most of the islands of the northern seas are located. Boiler, Northern and Novaya Zemlya, Franz Josef Land and others. On land this is a narrow strip on the Taimyr Peninsula

Subarctic belt

Here, the same severe and protracted winters, but in summer the temperature rises to 12 degrees. In the subarctic belt are located Murmansk, Nizhneyansk (Yakutia), Dudinka, Vorkuta.

Temperate zone

Most of the country is characterized bymoderate climatic zone. There are all four seasons. In winter, the average temperature is -30, in summer +30. But the vast territory is divided into several climatic zones with a unique climate for the region. For example, the city of Oymyakon, though located in a temperate climatic zone, is recognized as the coldest city in Russia (-71.2), and Astrakhan is the hottest (+47). In Yakutsk, the temperature difference between winter and summer is almost 100 degrees.

Subtropical belt

In Russia, the subtropical climate can be found inthe Black Sea coast (Sochi, Tuapse) and in some parts of Transcaucasia. In winter, temperatures rarely fall below zero, and summers are mildly hot with a uniform amount of precipitation.
