How did the ancient people hunt?
The life of an ancient man was very difficult anddangerous. Primitive weapons, the constant struggle for survival in the world of predators, and even ignorance of the laws of nature, inability to explain natural phenomena - all this made their existence complex, full of fear.
First of all, a man needed to survive, and, therefore, to get his own food. They hunted mainly on large animals, most often on mammoths. How did ancient people hunt, having simple tools?
How did the hunt take place:
- The ancient people hunted only together, in large groups.
- First they prepared the so-called pit-traps,at the bottom of which were put stakes, poles, so that the beast falling there could not get out, and people could finish it to the end. People well studied the habits of mammoths, who walked about the same road on a watering place to a river or lake. Therefore, the pits were dug in the places of movement of mammoths.
- Discovering the beast, people screamed him from all sides in this pit, hitting it, the beast could no longer escape.
- Caught by the beast for a long time became food for a group of people, a means of survival in these terrible conditions.
Presenting the picture, as primitivepeople, you can understand how dangerous it was for them to hunt, many died in the battle with animals. After all, the animals were huge and strong. So, the mammoth could only kill a man with a trunk, trample it with massive feet if he catches up. Therefore, one should only wonder: as they hunted mammoths, having only sharpened sticks and stones in their hands.
