How to stop a crack on the glass?
Crack on the windshield - annoyingA nuisance that can overtake any driver regardless of his experience and accuracy. It is enough just to strike from a tiny piece of rubble, with the speed of a bullet flying out from under the wheel of the car in front, and now a small crack has formed on the front of your car. It would seem that nothing particularly terrible has happened, because the crack is so small, almost invisible. But the whole trouble is that this crack has one unpleasant property - it can grow in length, and can grow literally by leaps and bounds.
How to stop a crack on the windshield?
The crack, of course, is not a living thing, so it can not grow by itself. The crack increases in size due to the constant vibration of the car that occurs during its movement.
Stop the process of crack growthin-house. To do this, you only need to drill small holes at its end points. Such round holes will interrupt the further rectilinear split of the glass and stop the growth of the crack. After drilling, the crack can be sealed with special glass glue.
Operating procedure
- Car windshield three-layer, itconsists of two layers of special glass and an inner layer of a reinforcing polymer film. Therefore, before starting drilling, you must first determine whether this crack is through or if only the outer layer of glass is cracked. In order to understand this, you need to sew a needle needle on the inside of the windshield in the place where the crack is located. If the tip of the needle slides over the glass and does not cling to the edges of the crack, then only the outer layer of the frontal lobe is cracked. In this case, it will be necessary to drill a blind hole in the glass. In order to drill a hole of the required depth, you can put on the tip of the drill special limiter - a small rubber washer.
- If the crack has several rays, drill holes at the end of each beam.
- For drilling glass use specialdrills of small diameter. For this purpose, drills that end in soldering from a hard alloy, or drills with diamond spraying on the cutting edges are suitable. Drill the holes with the electric drill at low speed. To ensure that the drill does not overheat during operation, it is necessary to supply all the time to the drilling zone with a cooling liquid: kerosene, soap solution or machine oil.
- When the holes are drilled, they needthoroughly degrease. After that, it will be possible to glue the crack and the self-limiting holes with special polymer glue for automotive glass. Such glue can be bought in almost any store selling auto parts. Apply and dry glue strictly in accordance with the instructions attached to it.
- After the glue has completely hardened, the glued places must be ground and then thoroughly polished.
