How to connect the electric motor to 220?

Most often for household items usean electrical network of 220 V. Some devices work through this network directly, for some, additional adapters are needed. In this article we will consider how to connect a 220 V electric motor.

A bit about the standard connection

Asynchronous single-phase electric motorit's easy to connect, because the voltage that it consumes is 220 V. Therefore, it simply needs to be connected to a 220 V power line. But, of course, there is a disadvantage of such an electric motor - this is the lowest efficiency. Therefore, try to connect a more powerful engine to 380 V. And those who want to learn more about engines at 220 V, may be interested in our article How to connect the engine to 220.

Connect 380 V to 220 V

Connection of a 380 V motor to 220 Voccurs as follows: take the capacitor and then close the stator windings with the help of the scheme "Triangle" or "Star-Triangle" (on the attached diagram, pay attention to the notes). Then we connect the "Phase" to the output of any of the 3 windings,

electric motor
and then connect "Zero" to the output of the other winding and connect the 2nd end of the capacitor chain to any of the windings (the choice of windings and the ordering do not matter).

The last action should be done carefully, andAlso do not forget to set the button for breaking the circuit with the starting capacitor when the motor overclocking is over. Otherwise, your equipment may be damaged due to overheating. And pay attention to the fact that when you connect such an electric motor to the 220 V network, its power will go down.
