Beginners of skiing, unfortunately, do not know, that skis require a certain care, otherwise they will quickly wear out and become unusable. One of the most important procedures that need to be done with skis is their lubrication.

Let's see how to properly lubricate the skis.

Than to grease?

First of all, of course, you need to choose, usingwhat kind of lubrication will be performed procedure. The main thing that you need to know is that the best lubricants are produced in Norway, Finland and Italy, which means that it is worth paying attention to these manufacturers. Lubricants, it is important to take into account, are solid and liquid, the former are better suited for subzero temperatures, the latter for the plus one. As a rule, the basis of lubrication is paraffin, and the darker, the lower its possible application temperature. Yellow paraffin is used for the mildest climate, green for temperatures below 25 degrees.

Professional athletes distinguish ointmentsslip and hold, and when applying lubricants, combine both types to achieve optimal slip, but get rid of slipping from the track. Ointments hold, as a rule, the central part, slip - the toe and heel. However, for an amateur, these subtleties are not so important, it is enough to buy one good lubricant taking into account the weather conditions of the terrain where he plans to ride.

How to lubricate?

To lubricate the skis you will need a lubricant, a special iron, a scraper made of plexiglas and a stiff nylon brush.

  1. Secure the skis in a horizontal position.
  2. Turn on the iron on minimum heating, start melting paraffin on it, so that the drops drip onto the surface of the skis.
  3. Once you understand that there is enough paraffin, start smoothing it with an iron.
  4. After the paraffin has cooled down (the process takes no more than 20 minutes), scrape off the excess with Plexiglas and walk over the surface with a brush.

That's all! Good luck to you skating!
