The clapper is a pyrotechnic toy thatpleases on holidays is not one generation of people. And although the technical progress does not stand still, the main components of the part, like the principle of the firecracker, remained practically unchanged for many years. About how the flapper is made and what kinds of crackers are, and will go further.

How the firecracker is made: composition and principle of operation

The standard "New Year" clapper consists of:

  • housing in the form of a cylinder or other shape made of cardboard or plastic;
  • capsule with pyrotechnic composition, built into the lower part of the body;
  • rings with a strong thread inserted into the capsule;
  • Filling (rolls of serpentine or confetti) located in the upper part of the body;
  • A cap, or a paper film, with which the body is closed.

How the firecracker works

If you sharply pull the thread connected to thethe pyrotechnic composition will light up from the friction that has arisen and a mini explosion will occur that triggers a whole chain of reactions: the explosion emits a little gas and then the gas creates inside the shell of the cracker the amount of pressure necessary for the cracker's protective film to burst and outwards confetti, serpentine or other similar stuffing.

Other ways of making firecrackers

In addition to the above, there are other typescrackers, acting on a slightly different principle. For example, in pneumatic flapper, the paper filling flies out of the hull by using the gas pumped into it. There are crackers from the filling, whose main function is cotton. For example, powder firecracker-petard. About what it consists of, described in an article on our website: How is the firecrack done. There are also paper crackers that are easy to make at home. This can be read in more detail here: How to make a paper cracker.

The clapper is an excellent toy, designed forholidays and friendly rallies, however, as with other pyrotechnic products, it must be handled with care, in order to avoid accidents.
