Many archive their documents, because they are soconvenient to transfer and store. However, often when an archive is opened, an error occurs, or the program displays a message indicating that it is corrupted. In this case, you will not be able to remove the document, but you can think about how to restore the archive. There are several ways to restore; consider some of them in more detail.

Restoring the archive with the WinRar archiver

You can restore the damaged archive using the WinRar archiver. The scheme of action in this case is as follows:

  1. If you see an error message, click the "Close" button.
  2. Then, in the archiver window, click on the arrow, in the "Name" field select the corrupted archive and click on the "Restore" button.
  3. Now in the next window, select the archive type and the folder into which the program will restore the documents, and click "OK".

You need to wait a few minutes to archiverecovered, after which you can go to the folder and check the presence of documents in it. This method will not be successful if the information for recovery was not added to the archive.

Restore the archive using the program.

You can restore the damaged archive usinga special program RAR Recovery Toolbox. It is paid, but you can find the Portable version on the network and use it for a while for free. The procedure for working with this program is as follows:

  1. After downloading, run the program.
  2. Select the corrupted archive and click "Next". Recovery Toolbox for RAR starts scanning and analyzing files. As a result, an indicator appears on the screen that displays the progress of the process.
  3. After the analysis is completed, you will see a list of filesand the folders that the program detected. They will be highlighted in different colors. Blue means that the file can be restored, yellow - in question, the red indicates the impossibility of recovery.
  4. Now you need to choose what you needrestore, and determine the folder in which the program unzip the file. If you need all the documents, you should select "Check All", and if only those that the program can restore, then "Check Good". Then click the "Restore" button, after a while, look in the folder and check the files.
