How to format a USB flash drive in NTFS?

How to format a USB flash drive: instructions

The instructions will use the Windows XP interface to describe this process:

  1. We insert the USB flash drive into the USB-connector.
  2. Open "Device Manager" (coordinates: "Control Panel" → "System" → "Hardware" tab).
  3. Expand the "Disk Devices" tab and find our flash drive there. Right-click on the line with it (open the dialog box) and select the "Properties" item.
  4. ntfs
    Open the "Policy" tab. Put the switch opposite the inscription "Optimize for execution." Click "OK".
  5. Open "My Computer". Open the dialog box USB flash drives and select the item "Format ..."
  6. In the "File system" drop-down list, select "NTFS". If necessary, perform other settings. Click "Start".
  7. After the formatting is over, open the properties of your flash drive in the "Device Manager" again.
  8. Open the "Policy" tab. Put the switch opposite the inscription "Optimize for quick removal". Click "OK".
  9. You can close all unnecessary windows.
