How to reinstall the BIOS from the USB flash drive?

BIOS is called the basic input-output system, where the settings are stored. Sometimes you need to update the BIOS, because in most cases, updates improve the performance of devices. How to upgrade the system?

Preparing for reinstallation

  1. We prepare the BIOS for reinstallation. To do this, reset the settings and save the copy to the USB flash drive. The following keys are used to call the BIOS settings:
    • Esc key
    • F12 key
    • simultaneous pressing of keys "Esc" + "Alt" + "Ctrl".
  2. Determine the BIOS version. There are two ways for this:
    • see this information (BIOS version and the address of the site where it can be downloaded) in the instructions on the motherboard;
    • press the key combination "Win" + "R", enter "msinfo", then we look at the information we are interested in. When the screen is loaded, this information appears at the bottom of the screen.
  3. We go to the manufacturer's website and download a new version of BIOS. Attention: it's better not to download alpha and beta BIOS versions, since these are trial versions, but we need a full version.
  4. We delete all information from the flash drive, format it,discard the downloaded version of BIOS. The downloaded file will be in the archived format, unzip it. Note: We perform the formatting of the flash drive by means of a special program, the program is started by the administrator.

Reinstallation

  1. After downloading the BIOS version to the USB flash drive, restart the computer. During the reboot, hold the "Del" key pressed. This action will result in the BIOS menu.
  2. In the menu, select the "Tools" tool, go tosection with the word "Flash". Note: if the partition with the given word does not exist, the motherboard does not update the BIOS with the help of flash memory. Most often this action takes place in the computers of the old version.
  3. Choose in the left column of theflash memory with the Tab button, confirm the action by pressing the "Enter" key. The computer starts reinstalling the BIOS, this action lasts up to one minute.
  4. We reboot the computer. Note: the system can request an error check, confirm the action.

BIOS update is complete. On a laptop, you can reinstall the system in a similar way.
