Regardless of your computer, the centralthe processor, which is in its bowels, must necessarily be cooled qualitatively. This is necessary so that during games and work on the computer it does not overheat. Nowadays existing cooling systems are passive (noiseless) and active, which are equipped with a fan. Among the diverse choice of products are coolers of various shapes that use heat pipes, they have different efficiency and price. Let's figure out how to choose the cooler that will suit you.

What is the cooler for?

Simply put, the computer's processorconsists of a large number of small electrical conductors that need energy. Energy from the conductor does not disappear - it goes from electric energy to thermal energy. If we consider that there are more than half a billion transistors in our processor, the question of the need for cooling the processor disappears by itself: the heat from them is enough to heat a small room. The processor itself will not be able to dissipate such a volume of energy: a small area, and materials are not appropriate. Therefore, with each crystal, the manufacturer supplies some simple cooler. When working at standard frequencies, also at normal temperature, it is quite enough, but in extreme situations (long warm-up, hot summer), it's better to find a model more efficiently.

Of course, in the presence of a conventional cooler, supplied, the processor does not heat up to a critical temperature. But still it is fairly stable high, and because of this, the chemical processes that continuously flow in the crystal are accelerated. This can result in the processor failing more quickly or slower. Even in a room with air conditioning, the temperature of a standard cooler can rise to 60 degrees. Do not forget that there are still disk drives, hard disks, video cards in the case, and accordingly, the air can warm up even higher, and the higher the temperature, the more difficult it is for our cooler. In addition, the "hot" ambient air, the more productivity decreases.

How to choose a cooler for the processor: options

  • The base of the cooler. Only in the simplest and most obsolete models of coolers, the radiator and the base are a single whole. Typically, developers share the base and the main cooling section. This is necessary in order to increase the efficiency of heat transfer from the cover of the processor itself to the base. In most cases, the fins of the radiators are made of light aluminum - an excellent material for this task. Copper is even more effective metal, but it costs an order of magnitude more. Therefore, some coolers use a copper base, implanted into the section of the rest of the radiator. In order to transfer heat efficiently enough, the manufacturer has to do something other than polish the base. Mirror of metal, the absence of irregularities, scratches increase the efficiency of work.
  • The shape of the radiator. If you still doubt which cooler to choose, then you need to know the difference in cooler shapes, because each has its pros and cons. Developers quite often experiment with the form of the cooler radiator, but at the moment they have revealed two effective concepts. The first is the "flower" structure of the radiator, with it the radiator resembles something like a flower, in the center of it the fan itself rotates. This design has its pros and cons. Pros: a small height of the radiator, air flow, which is created by the fan, allows you to evenly cool everything that is located next to the cooler. Disadvantages: a fairly small area of dispersion, limited possibilities for its effectiveness. The second form of the radiator is called "tower". From the base of the cooler heat pipes leave and on these tubes the fins of the radiator are "threaded". In modern models the radiator is divided into several separate sections and each of them is supplied with a separate fan.
  • Thermal grease. It is a kind of paste that is applied to the surface between the base of the cooler and the processor. Its main goal is to eliminate all irregularities of the contacting surfaces, to remove air between them. Qualitative thermal paste can reduce the temperature by 5-10 degrees. If you put a thick layer of thermal paste, the efficiency of the cooler will be very low, and if not put at all, the efficiency will be even lower. The best option is to squeeze a small amount of paste onto the computer processor cover and gently smear it with a very thin layer on the entire surface of our processor.

The best cooler manufacturers

Among the great variety of speciesIt's hard to decide which cooler to choose. Native coolers are very different in their efficiency, so it's better to look at the specified supported processors or TDP parameters.

  • Floston for Intel FCI1156-16S is perfect for youfor low-power Intel processors for such platforms as LGA 1155 and LGA 1156. Mounting this cooler is quite simple, but the truth is that this cooler works quite loudly.
  • The Titan TTC-NK35TZ cooler is compatible with manyplatforms. During its operation, less heat is observed, the revolutions are reduced to 900 rpm, which makes it almost silent. This is an important factor for those people who want to choose a cooler with a minimum noise level.
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo guarantees a fairly decent supply of power dissipated cooling system. A 120 mm fan regulates the speed of rotation using pulse width modulation.

Components of the computer must be selected carefully, paying special attention to their characteristics. Now you know which CPU cooler to choose for the computer to work properly.
