This instruction will also come in handy to properly plant wild grapes.
How to plant cuttings
Plant the grapes better in late spring. In a few months the stem will take root, which will help him to move the winter much easier.
It is better to choose green cuttings for planting - theybetter get along. Cut them should be a couple of weeks before flowering or at the very moment of flowering. Cuttings are planted in a glass or in a box and put in a warm and dark place until they grow up. After the cuttings grow, they are transplanted into the soil according to the instructions given above.
Care of grapes
It is not difficult to plant the grapes correctly. In the matter of caring for him, everything is more complicated. You need to know a few simple rules and features.
- On sandy soils it is recommended to plant in trenches. If the soil is clay or in areas with a close groundwater table, the grapes are recommended to be planted in the garden. The bed is an extensive increase on the ground, and it is in these elevations that seedlings should be placed.
- Prepare your seedling for cold weather ifwe are talking about the north. Some people who plant grapes in the north do not plant them in the first year in open ground, but keep them in buckets half buried in the ground. In autumn, the grapes are taken to the basement or to the shed, and in late spring they are planted. Usually such grapes bear fruit earlier.
- Be sure to use drainage when planting.
- Observe strict watering. Be sure to water only the young vines the first two years and conduct a general watering for all varieties of grapes in the fall. 8 days before the expected flowering, stop watering, otherwise it may provoke shedding of flowers and a delay in the harvest.
- To avoid grapes, avoid sprinkling. Arrange drainage pipes for irrigation in 30 or 50 centimeters from the seedling. Grapes do not like moist leaves or soil around. If you have the opportunity, make a seedling a visor.
- Crop the grapes, otherwise it can affectthe size of the berries, and the bush itself will grow. Keep in mind that you can not completely cut a bush in any case, and you can not do this in the first year of planting. It is necessary to start pruning not earlier than the leaf fall, the beginning of November (south) or September (north) is suitable. In the spring, this operation can not be carried out, otherwise it can weaken the plant.
- The first two to three years, all seedlings needprovide winter shelter. For example, you need to remove the shoots in the autumn, cover them with a two-three-layer dry shelter, put boards on the ground. All this needs to be covered with a corrugated cardboard and on top of it to place a film, the old linoleum can also come up. The main thing is to leave small cracks for airing. In the spring, when you remove the shelter, do not take it away. In case of sudden cold weather, it can come in handy.
Take for the rule of fixing the features of planting and its terms for each class separately. This will help you in the future to navigate in this issue.
