How to make a mold for plastic tiles

Convenient and durable are plastic molds. To make them, you need the following tools and materials:

• metal container;
• saw;
• screws;
• lumber;
• plastic;
• roulette;
• building level;
• sandpaper (medium grain size);
• manual or electric drill.

The process of manufacturing a plastic mold consists of the following stages:

1. Make a skeleton for the shape. Cut two identical pieces from the sawn timber (their length and height depends on the future dimensions of the tile, be sure to add 3 cm to them). Then you need to make sidewalls for the frame of wood. Their length also depends on what tile you decided to do with your own hands. After that it is required to cut off the last piece, which will become the bottom for the future shape. Fix all the details with screws and make sure that the frame has the necessary proportions with the help of a tape measure and a level. After that, create a few more of these skeletons to produce a sufficient number of forms in a short time.
2. Transfer the prepared plastic to the container. Melt it in an oven or on an open fire. Then pour into the wooden frames. Leave the plastic to cool for about 50-70 minutes.
3. Carefully remove the plastic molds from the framesand dip into cold water. Dry products or wipe with a terry cloth. If their inner surface is rough, sand it carefully with sandpaper. Then you can prepare a solution for paving slabs and pour it into plastic molds.

How to make a mold for silicone tiles

If you decide to make a form for paving slabs of silicone, you will need to prepare the following:

• hardener;
• catalyst;
• the basis;
• plastic bucket;
• brush;
• capacity (the size should correspond to the future dimensions of the silicone mold);
• vegetable oil (even unrefined oil is suitable).

To make a shape from silicone, the following instruction will help you:

1. Take the prepared containers for the mold and grease it with vegetable oil. Be sure to do this with a brush to do everything evenly and do not skip patches on the surface.
2. Take the components for silicone - the catalyst,hardener and substrate. Mix them in a plastic bucket in the proportions indicated by the manufacturer on the package. Then the finished silicone is poured over the containers. Leave it all for 24 hours.
3. Remove the frozen forms from the containers, and then leave them for a few more hours. Then you can pour on them a solution for creating paving slabs at home.
